Love is…

In the simplest of ways, I will say that love is inexplicable. The ways in which it has the capacity to change, evolve, capture and transcend is one of the most powerful “things” that I can think of. The “Love is…” campaign was inspired by my desire to make everyone feel as a part of this beautiful holiday that is upon us.

Though there has been various negative connotations (thank you capitalism and “talkingbutnotgonnacommit” culture) affiliated with this holiday, I still believe in the underlying beauty of celebrating love-- people, things and concepts that liberate us and make us feel alive-- those things and people are exactly what this holiday should be about.

So in natural 2020 fashion, I took my question “Love is..” to instagram. And before I share with you the beautiful picture that we painted together, I want to encourage everyone to recognize that this is also your holiday -- that love is not only reserved for those that have a man, or a woman, or a bae… love is for sisters, for brothers, for cousins, for passions, for mentors, for inspirations...but love is also and mainly...for You.

Together we acknowledge that:

Love is patient

Love is beautiful

Love is vulnerability, intense care and feeling like you can't live with that person

Love is forgiving and unconditional

Love is trust

Love is complicated

Love is pounded yam and okra after eating PB sandwiches for three days

Love is a big fat juicy burger

Love is an empowering soul connection defined by grace, patience and respect

Love is when someone buys me food

Love is when people send me money

Love is when I eat Chick-fil-a

Love is calling my besties and laughing til we cry

Love is when he kisses me a thousand times on my face

Love is freedom

Love is patient, love is kind

Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes

Love NEVER fails
