DIY Shorts step-by-step

I hate when I can see an outfit in my head, but NOWHERE online or in-stores. This happened a few weeks ago as I thought about what to put together for the Burna concert (if you don't know who Burna is…...help yourself to a few of his songs,10/10 recommend). I wanted to put together a cute, simple ‘shorts fit’ but could not find the shorts anywhere. SO...I made them.

A few weeks prior, I had seen the fashion-forward Lee on instagram in jeans that were half white and half jean colored...SO POPPIN. So I used that as a starting point for what I wanted to create.

I will share the few (and VERY simple) steps I took to achieve the pictured look:

You will need:

  • Jeans / Capris / Shorts

  • Scissors

  • Tweezer

  • Bleach

  1. I found a pair of jeans that I felt gave me room to work. I tried thrifting them but honestly didn't have the patience that day so I went to Walmart. The pair of jeans I got were $17 and honestly cute as they were...but mission must be executed. (20 minutes)

  2. I cut the jeans a little longer than the length i wanted to be to leave literal room for error and tried them on to test fit. (5 mins)

  3. After gauging length (adjust if too long), I cut the strips at the bottom for an added effect. I then used the tweezer around each strip to add pizzazz. (I’m sure that’s not how you spell it but you get the point, no?) (25 minutes)

  4. Following this step, I used the scissors to freestyle some rips in the shorts and then used the tweezers to distress. (30 minutes)

  5. Finally, after I had the shorts distressed to my liking, I placed bleach into a large plastic bag and tied one leg into the bag with the bleach so that it would only bleach one leg. (Sit for 2 hours)

  6. Lastly, lastly, lastly, I put the shorts in the washer/dryer to wash out the bleach.

I paired the shorts with a simple tee and forces.

Jeans: Walmart Jeans

Shoes: Forces (Although I got my size in boys...save me some coins)

Shirt: Was at forever 21 but we heard they going through a little trouble (eye emoji)

Well that's all folks! Please let me know if you have any questions and please book a consultation if you would like to chat through how to style this (or any other) look!

Bisous.
